Santa Ponsa Scene

Santa Ponsa is blessed with two Championship golf courses, both of which have staged the Balearic Open which has formed part of the European PGA Tour.

As a visitor to the town you can only play on the Santa Ponsa I course; Santa Ponsa II and III courses are for the exclusive use of members.

Santa Ponsa I opened in 1977 and is a par-72 course at 6,106 metres. Green fees are fairly expensive, as they are throughout Mallorca, and a round will cost about 74 euros, 9 holes is 40 euros but discounts are available if you travel with certain tour operators. Enquire with the company you travelled with to see if you are eligible for a discount card. The green fee is for a round and not the day. Tee reservations are recommended and can be made by phoning (00 34) 971 69 02 11.

You can also hire clubs, buggies and trolleys. The cost of hiring clubs is around 15 euros, a golf buggy is 39 euros (18 holes) and 25 euros (9 holes), and a trolley is around 3,50 euros.

There are full club house facilities to relax in after your round.

The location of the course is clearly marked on the map , but don't be fooled by its apparent proximity to town. The entrance to the golf course is within walking distance, but it is a long way from there to the club house. You will need a car or taxi to take you.

For those of you wanting to venture away from Santa Ponsa, the island is littered with many top class courses. Currently there are 21 courses in Mallorca. The nearest to Santa Ponsa is Poniente GC which is only five minutes away by car. It is a demanding course and is a challenge to players of all handicaps.
